Music in Germany
Some of the types of music in Germany are classic, folk, and traditional. Some of the famous German musicians are Herbert Grönemeyer, Xavier Naidoo, Marlene Dietrich, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Udo Lindeberg.
The music in Germany is much different from the music we listen to and so is the way their musicians dress.
Some of the instruments that they use are the trumpet, trombone, tuba, french horn, drum, tambourine, cymbals, xylophone, maracas, gong, triangle, the cello, violin, viola, bow, double bass, banjo, harp, and guitar.
German Cuisine
Pork, beef, and Poultry are the main varieties of meat consumed in Germany, pork being the most popular.Meat is usually braised. Pan-fried dishes also exist, but these recipes usually originate from France and Austria.
A lot of drinks in Germany consist of alcohol, like beer. Gluhwein is one of the drinks. Gluhwein is a red and white wines are produced in some areas of Germany, particularly around Lake Konstanz. Gluhwein is made of red wine, spices, cinnamon, orange peels and sometimes lemon.
On holidays a lot of the food they make will be related to that specific holiday, such as Christmas. On Christmas cookies, and other types of desserts are made.
German Festivals
Some of the traditional German celebrations include Bayreuth's Richard Wagner Festival, Munich's restrained commemoration of beer, Oktoberfest, the world's largest trade fair for books in Frankfurt and the Munich Opera Festival.
Oktoberfest is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture.
The Bayreuth's Richard Festival is a music festival held annually in Bayreuth, Germany, at which performances of operas by the 19th-century German composer Richard Wagnerare presented.
German Arts
German arts has a long and distinguished tradition in the visual arts, from the earliest known work of figurative art to its current output of contemporary arts.
Gerhard Richter, Max Ernst, Joseph Beuys, and George Grosz are just four of the many famous and very talented artists of Germany.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created about 2100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life. They include landscapes, still lives, portraits, and self-portraits.
German Clothing
Lederhosen, which means "leather trousers" in German, are the short, leather pants worn by men. These are usually knee-length and are the historically worn by working-class German men. The dirndl is a ruffled apron dress worn by German women that consists of a bodice, or blouse, and a skirt.
Women's attire, the dirndl, consists of a closefitting bodice combined with an apron in a different colour. Sometimes its sleeveless and worn with a cotton and lace blouse, sometimes it features sleeves and a high neck. Hats are often costly and elaborate.
A man's traditional clothing is made from leather, linen and wool. The 'Lederhosen', knee-length trousers or short-pants made from leather are worn with rustic shoes and wool socks.
German Sports
Together with football, ice hockey and handball, basketball in Germany is among the most popular spectator sports. One of the most popular non-football athletes to come out of Germany is Dirk Nowitzki, who plays power forward for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA.
Sport is an important part of German culture and society. In 2006 about 27.5 million people were members of the more than 91,000 sport clubs inGermany. Almost all sports clubs are represented by the DeutscheOlympischer Sportbund.
Germany has won the FIFA World Cup four times (1954, 1974, 1990 and 2014) and have hosted it twice (1974 and 2006). They have also won the UEFA European Championship three times (1972, 1980 and 1996) and hosted it in 1988.
